It is a gorgeous Labor Day in the High Country today. The sun has been brightly shinning, temperatures have reached into the 70’s again, and there’s a breeze that turns gusty every so often, perhaps warning that fall is not far behind. September is, undoubtedly, one of the most beautiful times in the High Country. It is when the nights cool down, sometimes way down – we’ve already had frost on several mornings – but the days all seem to have a golden glow about them, either from the position the sun takes this time of year or the Aspen leaves beginning to yellow, eventually becoming a brilliant gold amongst a sea of pine green.
Of course, after our incredible 2-4 weeks of fall, the snow will start, whether we’re
ready or not. In fact, this morning’s Summit Daily headline was Summit County’s upcoming ’16-17 winter may be a doozie. Apparently, the transition from the El Niño, warmer-than-average water temperatures in a portion of the Pacific Ocean, to La Niña, colder-than-average temperatures, can mean HUGE snow. Check out the article for more specifics on why 2016/2017 may be an epic snow season.
