Summit County is slowly opening back up and towns and businesses are getting creative on how to encourage patrons to return. This weekend, the towns of Breckenridge and Frisco are closing their Main Streets to vehicle traffic in order to allow restaurants and retail establishments to expand their space.

According to The Town of Frisco website, on Friday, 6.12.20, they “will launch a shop local program called ‘Love Frisco, Shop Frisco’ and the Frisco Pedestrian Promenade, which answers the call of businesses who are in need of more square footage to bring their occupancy to normal levels…the Promenade will transform three blocks of Frisco Main Street, from 2nd Avenue to 5th Avenue, into a pedestrian and bike-only zone with open air dining and shopping.”

• Closed at 6:00am on Thursday, June 11, 2020
• Closure from Second – Fifth Avenue
• No end day has been set
• The town will be creating pedestrian and bike lanes
• More overhead “bistro lighting” and flowers will also be added
• Retail establishments and restaurants will be taking advantage of increased outdoor space on the street

Love Frisco, Shop Frisco

In addition to the pedestrian promenade, the Town of Frisco has launched the Love Frisco, Shop Frisco campaign. This is an e-gift card program designed to encourage support of Frisco’s small businesses. When you buy a gift card, to be used at one of the participating businesses, the Town of Frisco will match your purchase with a bonus card: Spend $30, Get $10 / Spend $75, Get $25 / Spend $120, Get $40. The bonus cards expire on September 15th, 2020 and there is a per person limit on the bonus cards of $125. The regular gift cards will not expire. Breckenridge Walkable Main Street

The Town of Breckenridge is closing Main Street from Watson – Jefferson Avenue to allow restaurants and retail establishments to expand into the street for greater physical distancing. They are planning to have a local artist paint the street closure barricades throughout the eight weeks, and there will be opportunities for art classes, pop up performances, yoga and other activities throughout the closure.

• Closure from Watson – Jefferson Ave, along with a portion south to 400 S. Main
• Closed until approximately August
• What to expect:
  •  pop-up performances, demonstrations, workshops and art.
  • morning yoga at the Riverwalk Center
  • quartet performances by the National Repertory Orchestra & performances by local musicians, storytellers and performance artists
  • Craft and visual art classes run by Breckenridge Creative Arts
